Hey, hey!  It’s Andrea Wenburg.  Welcome to my Voice Studio where we are playing with the idea that maybe developing a voice of influence could be a little bit like developing a singing voice which is something that I have a little bit of experience with.

So I am welcoming you into my Voice Studio today for a little short episode where we’re going to talk about one little thing that Trivinia Barber mentioned in the last episode, Episode #5.  Now, Trivinia showed with us about PriorityVA, which is her business where she matches virtual assistance with entrepreneurs.

Now, what’s interesting about this I think for all of us is that she really has a passion to see people living in their zone of genius and doing the things that they are really good at doing instead of getting bug down by the things that they’re not good at doing.  So for example, I have been learning all about how to create a podcast.  It has taken me about a month to kind of figure out how to edit and what programs I wanted to use and how to go ahead and edit the podcast and how to upload it to all these different websites that I have to deal with and all those things.  And then I create images to be used on social media of like four or five social media accounts and I’m telling you what, there’s a lot that goes in to a process like this.

Now, my point is that all of us have things that we’re particularly good at and maybe you enjoy working with the details.  Sometimes I like to be able to play with images and it’s kind of relaxing for me, I enjoy that.  But there are times when I sit back and I realized how time I spent during the day working on things that someone else could have done quite frankly.  I could have paid somebody to do these jobs and then I could have created more content.  I could have done more in my more zone genius if you will.  And that’s kind of humbling to think about because it’s hard to think about the idea of passing off a project.

Most of us want to have a lot of control over the products that we are creating or the projects that we are involved with and it’s very difficult to let those things go and say, “You know what if this isn’t perfect, it’s gonna be OK.”  What is the most important value in this moment that I get every single _____ or that I get this blog post out there so that people can read it?  Because quite frankly a lot of what I do is far from perfect and if you’ll notice my transcripts, I don’t read through those transcripts.  I actually do pay somebody to create those transcripts for me.  But I don’t have time to go through them and read all the way through them and listen to each episode and make sure that they’re just right.

So I just decided that that’s going to be something that I have to let go.  I can’t have everything perfect.  So my question for you is what are you holding on to that you really want to have perfect or the control that you really want to have over a project or message that you’re trying to get across?  What things could you let go of that might free you up to be able to do more in your zone of genius or things that are just simply more important to you like spending time with your family?  What things could you let go of?

I know it’s so hard to let go of this idea that everything can’t be totally perfect but the truth is it’s OK.  It is OK if it’s not perfect.  Maybe it’s more important for you to spend that time with your family.  Maybe it’s more important for you to work on a different project that could get you further down the path that you’re trying to go.  So what is it that you’re going to let go of this week?  I hope that you do find something and in the end, I do really believe it’s going to make your voice matter more!
